Makes
use of geothermal energy by taking warm water from a disused coal
mine under the site.This water is passed through heat pumps and
retained in a thermal storage tank, which also receives warm water
from 36m2 of solar panels. The buildings are well insulated with
cellulose insulationnd, and running costs are in the region of £25
a year for heating and £50 a year for hot water.
There are 16 dwellings, providing a variety of house
types and sizes designed to cater for families, young couples, and
the elderly.The project was completed in June 1999
